Written and directed by Drew Maxwell (The Sleeper) Hell's Labyrinth is a horror / action flick with a difference. The whole film (apart from maybe being bookended by 3 minutes of film at beginning and end) is shot on green screen. Unfortunately it is poor green screen. And a poor film. Spoilers from here on in.
A woman, Kate, is arguing on the phone with her boyfriend (maybe?) about something she did and cannot run away from (I don't know what, it's never mentioned again), when her car gets a flat tire in the middle of no where. She starts walking, and is accosted by a kindly looking older gentleman, who turns out to be Servant. After being knocked unconscious, Kate awakens in a green screen coffin (maybe?) and when the doors open, her and nineteen (apparently, we never see them all) people are found to be trapped in a labyrinth (not Hell) being chased by Playstation 2 monsters. In this opening labyrinth scene the group are attacked and culled to six (all deaths off-screen because they didn't have twenty extras).
From here on in, the cast stumble around without sets to interact with, and fight monsters that aren't there. The acting is meh from all involved (apart from Ryan Schaufler who is excellent), the direction is non-existent, the FX horrible, and the plot is on an extended sabbatical.
Even the gratuitous full-frontal nudity is embarrassing, and I really felt for the poor actor they blindly contracted that for - but at least she managed to cover her face.
Just dreadful.
